PickUpSkills sits under the Privatizz umbrella. Polymorph ran concept design and a design sprint, then built with IsoFlow on UX. The product kept changing when the industry pushed back on early assumptions.
The Situation
Skills development in South Africa involves employers, employees, and training providers, each with different needs, and many employees without email. PickUpSkills set out to be the marketplace that connects those sides and keeps tracking and compliance clearer.
Confirm IsoFlow introduced the client to Polymorph after a previous development partner did not meet expectations. Say this publicly only with client or Patrick clearance.
The Problem
Budget and scope forced hard cuts. Associations might block the concept; providers might not see value. Early assumptions about how training gets booked did not match reality: fixed provider calendars, card-only payments, and a first MVP integration that later had to go.
The Solution
Polymorph’s concept design and design sprint set direction, including tech diligence against the wider Privatizz ecosystem. IsoFlow owned UX/UI in a collaborative agile rhythm with Polymorph’s PM and lead developer checking feasibility.
The live product is a responsive Angular app with role-based views. WhatsApp became an authentication path for employees without email. Corporate buyers needed quotes, proformas, POs, and EFT, so that flow was built. When an early MVP integration proved wrong, the team replaced it with training-provider roles and a course wizard. Enrollment shifted to employer-requested dates that providers confirm.

The Results
- Platform is live and publicly available at pickupskills.com.
- Site lists 400+ certified events Confirm with Germari.
- Product shape changed with interviews and support work, including throwing away the wrong MVP path.
- Design sprint set a goal of cutting employer approval from about a week to 24 hours. Current time is trackable. Publish numbers only when the client confirms.
- Much training is still booked offline through the PickUpSkills team. Those bookings keep teaching the team what to digitise next.
